December Success Story

success story Dec 02, 2024

All our students are family members and so many have built lifelong relationships and friendships with us.  I am loving reading tall he Success stories coming in, and can't wait to share them! Yet this one team here is so special, I have to share their story with you right away!

Both, Brooke and Max just shine together, and we are so proud of them and so excited to be a part of their journey, which by the way is only the beginning.  The moment I spoke to Brooke on the phone, I was determined to help, because her goal was not only to help her rescued Max and to improve their lives together, but she was set on making it to become a successful therapy dog team and to help others!  In addition, this young woman's kindness and big heart inspired me to continue pursuing Pet Partners Therapy Group Instructor certification. It's always clients like this that make my heart full and remind me of how lucky and grateful we are to be able to do what we do here at Dogsports4u Academy!

Here is what Brooke shares in her own words...

I rescued my dog, Max, in March 2024. Unfortunately, he was abandoned three times before we found each other and even left on the side of the road. Due to his difficult start at a young age, Max is afraid of loud sounds, reactive to other dogs, and overwhelmed in big spaces.

Dog sports allowed me to start with basic training and earn our AKC Canine Good Citizens while also building Max's skills to help him become confident as a therapy dog. Their AKC Urban Dog course was perfect for giving Max the exposure and training he needed in public spaces.

The entire company was extremely patient with me as I navigated my busy schedule, and they provided great recommendations, valuable experience, and outstanding communication. I feel a lot more confident going for walks and bringing my dog to dog-friendly restaurants. He knows more tricks now, and my personal favorite part is that we have a much stronger bond from doing all this together!

As I begin the evaluation process to become a therapy dog team, I feel confident going into the exam knowing we've perfected the skills Max will need. I also know I have a family of trainers on my team to help me work through any issues that might arise.

Thank you to Olga, Becca, and Irene for their help in supporting me as I pursue my dream of becoming a therapy dog team!
